Can my existing timber joinery be retrofitted with new double glazing?

We specialise in retrofitting timber joinery, and in 99% of cases we see we’re able to retrofit the existing joinery with new double-glazed units. In the event are unable to retrofit them, we will give you our best suggestions for moving forward with double glazing, including our recommendations for window models and a project quote.

Are the double-glazed units warrantied?

All our units are manufactured to current NZ standards, and we re-test regularly using BRANZ, an independent research organisation for building and construction companies. Each unit is warrantied for 10 years per the New Zealand standard for insulated glass units.

Can my window hardware be updated or replaced?

We can replace the hinges of windows we work on with stainless steel hinges. All other hardware can also be changed if supplied by you and has been agreed on prior to installation.

Do you arrange scaffolding?

We have our own mobile scaffolding that is usually sufficient for most jobs. However, if a more substantial scaffold is required, we will advise you to arrange this in advance as you will also need to organise for the frames to be painted once installation is complete.

Do I need to repaint my joinery after installation?

In most circumstances, the paintwork is left unaffected and serviceable on the inside of the home. The outside, however, will need to be repainted and will require regular maintenance – much like it would have prior to the installation.

What sort of investment is required?

We offer a no-obligations measure and quote service to help you get an idea of the potential cost of your job. During the quoting process, we will discuss the project in depth, including the finishes and double-glazing options we offer.

Does double-glazing alter the way our joinery looks?

The purpose of our double-glazing technique is to retain the intended look of the original joinery. We can appreciate a reluctance to change your joinery, so we are careful to work in a way that preserves the timber. Our system removes only enough timber to accommodate the new units, and units are installed to New Zealand standards NZS4223 and NZS4211. Click here for more information on Double Glazing.
