FAQs

We've listed our most frequently asked questions right here, so you know what to expect from our team and our services. If your question is not listed below, please get in touch as we'd be happy to help you.

We service the greater Auckland region. However, if you really want to work with us, please contact our team to discuss your project.

No, we do not. Atlas Glass specialises in Timber Joinery Retrofit Double Glazing.

The purpose of our Retrofit Double Glazing technique is to retain the look and feel of the original joinery. We can appreciate a reluctance to change your joinery, so we are careful to work in a way that preserves the timber. Our system removes only enough timber to accommodate the new units, and all work is installed to New Zealand standards NZS4223 and NZS4211.

We suggest you replace your hinges with new stainless steel hinges at the time of installation. Our team will discuss this with you when we are quoting your job. If you decide you want to supply your own hardware, please ensure you have this ready for our team at the installation date.

Yes you do. This is part of your warranty obligation.

The inside of your frames should only require re-touching. The outside however, will need to be repainted after the installation. This seals the timber beads, seals the windows, prolonging it's life. Your windows will require maintenance going forward, as they did prior to the retrofitting process.

Please note that we do not paint or arrange the painting of your frames. We are happy to refer you onto our painting contacts should you need help with this.

Most full house installations can take between 4-5 days; however, this is all dependant on the size of the job, and we can give you a guideline once we know what is required and how many jobs are booked before yours.

We specialise in Timber Joinery Retrofit Double Glazing. We also have a well-equipped factory at our Avondale address, featuring a glass furnace, DGU (Double Glazed Unit) line and glass laminator.

Yes, this is what Retrofit Double Glazing is, and this is our speciality! Unless your frames are very damaged, we are able to retrofit the existing timber joinery with new double-glazed units. Sometimes we may need to repair your frames for this to work. In the odd event we are unable to retrofit your frames, we will give you our best suggestions for moving forward with double glazing.

We do! We have a factory in Avondale where we manufacture all our Double Glazed Units onsite.

In most cases our Retrofit Double-Glazing work is done onsite. However, on the odd occasion we may bring your frames back to our factory to be worked on.

We have our own mobile scaffolding that is usually sufficient for most jobs. However, if a more substantial scaffolding is required, we will ask you to arrange this prior to our arrival as your painters will also be able to utilise it to complete the installation.

When you fill out the contact form, you will be able to add images, measurements and details to give our sales rep a guide to help you with a ball part figure. However, due to the variables of each job, we will need to view and measure your windows to give an accurate quote. That’s why we offer a free no-obligation quote. Our sales rep will meet you onsite, measure your frames, look for visible rot and discuss the project in depth, including the finishes and double-glazing options we offer. A quote will then be sent for you to review before accepting the job.

If cashflow is an issue, talk to our team about options to split the job up overtime. Maybe consider replacing the bedrooms and lounge first and then the remainder of your home at a later date.
